Steam Facial Technique

Steaming the face is the best way to thoroughly deep clean your pores, to get rid of pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. There’s more than one way to deep clean your pores, but steaming is perhaps one of the simplest and most effective. The heat of the steam increases circulation to your skin, which helps bring nourishment to the outer layers of your face; it also increases the production of sweat, helping your body clear impurities and oils out of your pores. If your skin is dry, steam your face once a week. It can be used every day if you have a very greasy skin.

  • Boil a pan of water and after few minutes turn the temperature down halfway or until the bubbling goes away.
  • Add fresh herbs to create a fresh scent such as mint, chamomile and rosemary. If your skin is oily you can use thyme, peppermint or lemon. For sensitive use chamomile or lime.
  • Stand directly over the steam and drape a small towel over your head for keeping the steam from escaping because it will be more effective in opening the clogged pores.
  • When you’re done, rinse your skin with warm water.
  • You can steam your face twice a week without worries – it won’t harm your skin.
  • After steaming for five to 10 minutes, mix two tablespoons of witch hazel and one teaspoon of lemon juice to create a natural astringent that is applied to the face. Allow the astringent to soak in for at least five minutes, and then moisturize.
