10 Ways To Protect Your Lips From Summer







          Lip care should be taken even in summer since lip problems are manifested not only in winter season, but also in summer.  It is because lips get dried up soon due to the heat in summer. Let us know the precautions to be taken in this season.

  • Apply coconut oil to your lips daily. This moisturizes the lips.
  • You should try to avoid over exposure to the sunrays as they can absorb moisture of your lips and make them dry. If you have to spend a lot of time outdoors, then you should go for 'triple lipstick ', with moisturizers and sunscreen built right in.
  • Protect your lips from the harsh weather conditions. Eat plenty of green veggies and fruits. Gorge on foods rich in Vitamins. Increase your intake of water.
  • Peppermint lip balm brings relief to lips damaged by summer sun. Add 10 drops of peppermint essential oil to 1 tbsp of honey. Apply it to the lips at bedtime. You may add 10 drops each of grapefruit essential oil and lavender essential oil instead of peppermint.
  • You may also consume lot of fluids in your diet. Cut down the intake of carbonated sodas, tea, or coffee. Drink fresh fruits juice or vegetables juice. Butter milk is very good option after your meals.
  • As our skins are made up of 90% water, drinking plenty of water not only helps you stay hydrated, it also controls and regulates your lips and skins natural balance by stimulating the circulation of blood, fluids, and other elements within your body. In addition, drinking plenty of water also helps replace the moisture lost during your daily activities.

  • Use of Ghee is good on your lips but remember always remove your lipstick before going to bed and applying ghee on it. You can use herbal cleanser to clean your lips before applying ghee. Using ghee is a natural home remedy to protect your lips.
  • Try out rubbing lip cream with a light toothbrush topped with lip cream, so that the fine cracked particles on your lips are removed completely.
  • To relax the lip, mash a quarter of ripe papaya to a juicy paste. Then, lie down on a towel and apply a generous amount to the lips and the skin around the lips. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes, rinse it off and apply lip balm. Papaya contains exfoliating enzymes and can help to soften and refine lip lines.
  • Dip a black tea bag in warm water and press it on lips for three to four minutes. This increases moisture level on skin of lips
  • You can use honey on your lips, before going to bed apply little homey on your lips. It will keep them soft and you will feel the same in the morning.
  • Warm sesame oil will also soothe your lips. Avoid licking your lips and don’t bite the skin on the surface of your lips.
