Tips To Take Care Before The Wedding Day

  • To get that glowing, fresh-faced look, there are a few things to consider a few weeks prior to your wedding day. A skin and nail care plan should be started about 6 weeks before the wedding. Talk to your beautician about having regular facials and manicures.

  • Don't get too much sun before your wedding. Sunburns and peeling skin shouldn't sabotage your wedding day. Consider Spray-on-tanning , a 100% natural way to achieve a tan. Ask Cristina about Golden Tropics Spray on Tan.
  • Avoid food or any substances that could give you oily skin, swelling and irritation. Try to avoid spicy, deep fried and junk food. It is better to avoid red meat, alcohol, and caffeine.
  • Drink around 8 to 10 glasses of water everyday. If you can drink more as it will keep you hydrated and flush out the toxins from the body. And it is very important to drink water to have a glowing skin.
  • Eat lot of fruits and veggies.
  • At night, pack on a thick luxurious layer of moisturizer to the face and neck.
  • Have your eyebrows trimmed one day before your wedding and sleep well, even a few more hours than usual, if you can! Nothing helps your skin more than relaxing and sleep. In the morning of the big day, make sure your skin is well moisturized about 10 minutes after having your hair done and before applying your makeup and before applying foundation; apply a transparent gel or "primer" to form a barrier between your skin and the makeup.
  • Rest, Rest & Rest.
  • Ask your make-up artist to arrive as early as possible and allow plenty of time to get the job done.
  • The last thing you want is to be rushed on your wedding day.

Steps For A Georgeous Bridal Look

Step 1:  Foundation:  Begin with a primer to fill in pores and lines, so that makeup glides on evenly. If primer is a budget buster, use a good, light moisturizer - give your moisturizer or primer time to sink in. Wait at least 10 minutes before applying foundation. Don't use very thick moisturizer before applying foundation to your skin. If you want an all-over glow, apply your highlighter over your moisturiser and under your foundation
  • Foundations with yellow undertones work best with flash photography.
  • Keep away from shimmer highlighters as this look will not show up well in photos and give a reflective shine.
  • Use a light dusting of translucent powder to prevent any unwanted shine.
  • Ask your make-up artist to use a bronzing powder to warm your skin tone and give a natural glow. Place on areas where the sun would naturally hit e.g. Forehead, cheeks and bridge of nose.
  • Blush- use more than not enough.

If you have an oily skin, always look for an oil-free foundation or one that says 'non-comedogenic' on the label. An oil free foundation also lasts longer. Remember to always choose a foundation that is closest to your skin colour. If you want to prevent your face from getting shiny you can always dust a little bit of pressed powder over your foundation. For a concealer that lasts, choose one with a dry consistency. Always apply it after your foundation

Step 2:  Eye MakeUp:  After the foundation makeup has been applied on the face including the eyelids, curl eyelashes as close to the base of the lashes as possible without feeling them pull. Hold the eyelash curler down for 5 seconds and release. Look at your profile in the mirror to ensure that eyelashes are turned up.

  • Eyeshadow: Take the wider eyeshadow brush and apply the ivory color from eyebrow to lash line. Use the same eyeshadow brush to apply the medium brown color to the eyelid only, and lightly blend with the brush or your finger tip. For a little extra sparkle, apply an ivory shimmer shadow directly under the eyebrow and blend well.
  • Apply a thin line of eyeliner to the top and bottom lash line allowing it to become slightly thicker at the outside corners.
  • Eye Makeup Smudge: Run the slant brush carefully along the lash lines to give a slight smudged look. Use the blender brush again to create a smooth transition with all the eyeshadow shades on your lid.
  • Mascara Application: Apply your mascara to the top and bottom of your lashes. Make sure to get the lashes in the outside and inside corners for a full look.

Step 3: Lips:  When choosing a lipstick color, consult your eye makeup first.  You should choose either your eyes or your lips as the focus of your face, not both. Choose lip liner that blends easily with lipstick for that soft glossy look that looks good in photographs too.  Thin and small lips look more sensuous with light lip colors while fuller lips can use deep shades. For olive and dusky skinned ladies, maroons and brown lip colors are the safest bet as well as the golden tones.

Be sure to coordinate you overall look: all the colors should have either warm or cool tone while your hair, make-up, jewelry and gown should correspond to the carefully chosen theme.  Hairstyle is usually chosen, after completing the makeup to suit the looks of the bride.  If you are not used to wearing heavy makeup, keep your hands away from blue and green eye shadows. Ask your mum or one of your bridesmaids to carry a powder compact, tissues and lipstick for touch ups during the day.
