The oval face is considered to be the ideal shape. However, there aren’t many people who have a perfectly oval face. Even proportions make oval faces especially versatile. People with an oval face shape can wear most hair styles and lengths. Slicked-backed looks are very good for this shape.

Round Face Shape:

 A round face is as wide as it is long with rounded edges. The nose is the center guide. In trying to maintain the appearance of an oval face shape, hair for round face shapes should be kept close to the sides of the face, while the crown will need height and volume.If you want your face to appear slimmer, make sure hair is showing below the chin. Layers from the lips down remove bulk and weight from the sides. Tapered ends will draw attention away from the roundness by allowing hair to fall close to the head. Avoid short hair and volume at the sides, one length cuts.

Long Face Shape

For somebody with a skinny and long face, a short bob is not good. It elongates the face. Basically, what you have to do is you have to take all of that into consideration when you are doing your haircut; the shaping of the face and the texture of the hair. There are all these variables when you are doing hair. I recommend leaving bangs longer when somebody has a long face, because it makes the face look shorter. Short bangs are pretty bad for a long face. Having a short side with a long back is very bad for long face types. Sometimes people have expectations of a haircut, and if you show them pictures of people with long faces and the wrong haircuts, then you win-over the client. That's why the consultation is so important. Avoid long hairdos as it would make your face look even longer.

Square Face

• With a square face shape you need short or medium length hairstyles. Curly and wavy styles will give some roundness around your face. Layers will soften your square face and height at the crown will make your face look longer. You definitely need height on top and should try to keep the sides narrow. Keep your forehead free to make your face look longer.
• Fullness at the temples and cheekbones will make the face look rounder. Try to cover the jaw line. 
• You should avoid long straight hairdos because these would accentuate your square jawbone. Also avoid centre parts and straight fringes.
• A classic chin length bob haircut won’t look good either. You should avoid haircuts with straight lines You’ll need some layers or waves in it and it should end just above or just below the chin. Very short hairstyles will not look good with a square face.

Heart Shape Face

• Long hair should be wavy with layers while short hair should keep the top layers soft and long with side-swept bangs.
• Do not pull your hair back off your face (for example, a ponytail) because you must have width at your chin.
• You should also avoid hairstyles with: too much height at the crown of your head, a center part and choppy layers as well as long, blunt, straight bangs.
